Dragon Dance ~ Yang/Yin Practice with Val and Amy
Join Valerie Giles & Amy Creighton Power for a Yang/Yin practice known as the Dragon Dance. This practice is inspired by the teachings of Paul and Suzee Grilley as well as Bernie Clarke. The Dragon Dance is a blend of Indian and Daoist yoga in the pursuit of moving energy. We do two things energetically during our yoga practice: we stimulate the flow of energy, and then we remove blockages to that flow of energy. Our practice will begin in a quiet grounding meditation to connect with your energetic self.
The Dance moves through a ladder style flow where we add one new pose to each round of the movements. We flow in a fluid way from the left to the right side of our mats; creating a vigorous full body practice! Once we reach the peak of the yang or active portion of the class we will shift gears into the yin portion of the practice, where we hold each pose for 3-5 breaths. We will finish in a blissful savasana after having created, moved and shifted energy.
Come out to experience a new way of moving with Valerie and Amy! Learning the dance will challenge you mentally and physically; in life and in practice we need flexibility in the body and the mind. However, you will also find lots of laughs along the way.
